Structure Fire in Newport on September 30

South Pend Oreille Fire and Rescue answered a 911 call on September 30th for a structure fire in Newport to assist Fire District 4 and West Pend Oreille Fire.

SPOFR Fire Chief Brad Martin said, “We were able to save the house and there were no injuries from this chimney fire. Also, I want to remind everyone that with the cooler weather approaching that it’s time to change your smoke alarm batteries and be sure your chimney has been properly inspected.”
