South Pend Oreille Fire and Rescue hosted a LifeFlight training event on Saturday December 16th at the Sacheen Lake Fire station. SPOFR Captain Coral McLain organized the event with Dustin Waterbly, FP-C who is a life-flight paramedic and trainer.
Dustin has been with Life-Flight over 5 years and is also the Customer Service Manager for Life-Flight. He also does outreach for all the Life-Flight partners. Dustin said “we have a very robust membership program and people can just go to our website at Lifeflight.org and click on the membership link or just call the phone number listed. He continued by saying “ one of the favorite parts of my job is getting out here and working with all these folks who work hard every day and they want to take care of their community. I absolutely love it!”
SPOFR Captain Coral McLain was instrumental in having members of Pend Oreille County Search and Rescue, Pend Oreille Fire District 2, Pend Oreille and Pend Oreille Fire District 4 with close to 50 EMT’s and Advanced EMT’s present.
Dustin covered their standard protocols for radio communications, landing instructions and all the basics needed to transfer a patient from an ambulance to a LifeFlight helicopter.
Dustin asked for questions and his presentation was very well received by those attending the event.
