October 28th is recognized as National First Responders Day. I would like to honor all first responders today, firefighters, medical personnel and our law enforcement brothers and sisters. It takes great personal and family sacrifice to answer the call and serve one’s neighbors. It takes waking up in the middle of the night. It takes being the comfort on someone’s worst day. It takes bearing witness to trauma, to evil, and to the things ‘you can’t unsee.” It takes courage, integrity and heeding to a higher calling.
Please join me in honoring all our first responders. Specifically, thank you to the men and women of South Pend Oreille Fire & Rescue. Thank you for volunteering, serving, and devoting your time and resources to serving our beautiful county. You are appreciated by your chief and your community!
