South Pend Oreille Fire and Rescue continues the volunteer appreciation program called SPOFR Volunteer Spotlight. This is a way to recognize the volunteers when you see them in the community grocery store or at any local activities.
Donna Olmstead – Advanced EMT & Firefighter
This month’s Spotlight Volunteer of the month is Donna Olmstead who has been with South Pend Oreille Fire and Rescue for almost 8 years. She is an Advanced EMT and Firefighter. Donna has also been a volunteer with Kalispel Tribal Fire for the same amount of time.
Donna originally lived in Spokane and when they moved to Pend Oreille County, she liked the medical field. She said, “I wanted to look at what I could do to help the community medically. I was attending the Cusick Fair and noticed a booth for EMTs. I took that opportunity to sign up and become an EMT and then an Advanced EMT. I’ve worked with a lot of EMTs and Paramedics and I have enjoyed every second of my career and I love every minute of it.”
Chief Brad Martin of South Pend Oreille Fire Rescue said, “We love having Donna as a volunteer because of her ‘can do’ attitude and the great sense of caring she brings to her work.”
Thank you, Donna, for being our SPOFR Spotlight Volunteer of the month.
