South Pend Oreille Fire and Rescue Chief Shane Stocking is excited to announce our Newport Fire Station Community Re-Dedication Event, which will be in partnership with the City of Newport on November 30th, starting at Noon.

Chief Shane wants to thank the many dedicated staff, volunteers, and SPOFR Commissioners who helped with the painting and cleaning projects to prepare for this day. The Chief said, “This partnership with the City of Newport will allow SPOFR to be more centrally located to serve the residents of Pend Oreille County with pride. Constituents of South Pend Oreille, the City of Newport and the County as a whole should be excited about this historic opening. It is no small feat to staff a fire station 24/7, but our residents deserve the absolute best in fire and EMS coverage, and it remains SPOFR’s mission to deliver the highest level of service possible.”

To celebrate this Re-Dedication Event, we will provide cookie decorating for the kids, made possible with a partnership with My Sidewalk Cafe, along with hot dogs and hot chocolate from Noon to 2 PM. This will be followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony to be attended by our City of Newport partners, local fire districts, Life Flight and our staff and volunteers. Chief Shane said, “This event isn’t primarily about Newport or SPOFR. This is about and for the community, just as this fire station is!”
